ABOUT THE PROJECT
During this project I was given the task of creating a solution to replace two existing search servers which were running Google Search Appliance on premise. Since certain information should not be available to the public, the best approach was to create two separate search instances. Each environment utilized Red Hat, Apache, Elasticsearch, FESS, and Apache Tomcat. The solution also consisted of a total of 4 servers, one for publicly facing information, one for internal use, and two others to mimic those servers in development. Due to the size of the index and the amount of shards created, we used a separate file system to store all of the collected data. The search featured a fully integrated administrative GUI for controlling facets, key matches, suggestions, crawl addresses, and various other configurations.
