Forms Scanner

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project was developed to reduce the overhead cost of using Scantron forms for survey responses from jurors throughout the state of New Jersey. The solution was created using Java and the OpenCV library for optical mark recognition. It featured a template designer which was used to mark the coordinates of each individual answer. The program would then analyze the threshold of the density of markings, and verify if it was a true response. The software also had the ability to step through individual surveys, or run a bulk scan on all completed forms and output all responses to a CSV file. It is also fully integrated with Sharepoint, and data could be directly exported into vicinage specific lists with a simple drop down. The software also features a barcode scanner by utilizing Z-Bar library, which would extract unique ID's from labels on the surveys. This data was then imported into an Access Database where SQL queries were used to create hundreds of reports about the findings.
